UFI Filters debuts in the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC), together with the British driver Ryan Smith. The Group, leader in the filtration and production of heat exchangers for combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles, has been present in the United Kingdom for four years with a dedicated sales team and warehouse and for the first time goes on track in a racing category dedicated to heavy vehicles.
The British Truck Racing Championship is one of the biggest categories in the UK, with machines weighing in at more than five tonnes and producing in excess of 1000bhp – it is a championship like no other.
The championship has for a long time been split into two classes. Division 1 is home to the most advanced machines that have bespoke braking and suspension systems, whilst Division 2 is likened towards more production-based machines.
For the 2021 season UFI Filters is sponsoring Ryan Smith, who will be racing with the team Smith Trucksport.
The British driver boasts a list of successes in the UK racing, he’s been Class A BTRC Champion for 5 season in a row, from 2016 to 2020. This year Ryan Smith is racing with his UFI branded Mercedes Actros, a giant of 5,300 kg, 1,400 HP, 6,800 Nm torque and a ZF 16 S 221 mechanical gearbox, which can run till 160 km/h.
A season that promises to be exciting and that will support the visibility of the UFI brand in the sector of heavy duty vehicles, a business that will assume increasing importance in the coming years.
