UFI closes the ETRC season on the podium alongside John Newell

The 2025 season of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) came to an end with the final round at the Jarama Circuit (Spain) on 5 October.
For UFI, which sponsored British driver John Newell with the NWT Motorsport team, it was a year full of intense moments in the European truck racing scene.

A consolidated partnership

Already well established in the world of British truck racing, John Newell approached the 2025 season with great ambition, securing podium finishes and victories that earned him 284 points, putting him in third place in the Chrome Class standings.

This achievement is testament to the strength and consistency of the UFI–Newell partnership, which has taken competition to new heights not only in individual races but throughout the entire European championship. UFI confirmed the renewal of the partnership at the beginning of the year, in recognition of the passion, determination and technical expertise demonstrated by the British driver throughout 2024. This year’s edition of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) was at the highest level, with 18 teams competing in eight races spread across the most important European circuits. The race truck that took John to the podium is a MAN Chassis, nicknamed ‘Lagertha’, powered by a powerful 1,100 horsepower engine with a maximum torque of 5,500 Nm.

The value of racing for UFI

With the 2025 season now over, John Newell and UFI look back with satisfaction on the results achieved. This renewed partnership has been a valuable opportunity for growth and collaboration, highlighting shared values between the driver and the company, such as passion, commitment and excellence.

Newell commented:
“I am really proud of what we have achieved this season. Every race has taught us something, and the latest victory at Jarama confirmed how much we have grown together as a team. Working with UFI is always a pleasure for me; knowing that I have a reliable and competent partner behind me allows me to give my all on the track.”

“It has been exciting to be working alongside John Newell again this ETRC season. After two years of collaboration, seeing steady growth race after race reflects the values we share: determination, expertise and vision,” says Karl Ridings, Commercial Director and Aftermarket General Manager at UFI UK & Ireland.
